being a niqabi in the usa has proved to be very difficult, even the halal markets here ask you to remove your niqab to identify yourself. not to mention the non muslim owned bussinesses, they really flip out when you wear it, ive been told “my kind” isnt permitted in their establishment. its a struggle to just wear hijab in the usa , because were always being told no because of the hijab, or if we want to work here or go there we have to take it off… wearing niqab has proven to be much harder , harder then i even would have expected it to be… at times people judge me with out even knowing me, judging me for whats on my body instead of whats in it. if thats not superficial i dont know what is. at times i am soo hurt, i am so glad i wear niqab because i dont want them to see my tears, my mother always told me as a child “sticks and stones can break my bones but words will never hurt me”. Momma that was a lie, these words they hurt, and they hurt bad! Whalahi, i wish people would just get to know us Niqabis before they judge us, they would find out i am NOT this alien, terrorist, horrible person they claim i am! that i am just like they are, im human, i bleed red just like them . I just dress differently!
